Active Impeachments

Citizens’ impeachment tracks impeachments of current US government officials. Active impeachments begin with a representative declaring their intent to impeach. The formal process of impeachment requires a representative to submit a simple resolution to impeach the government official. Generally, impeachment resolutions are referred to the Judiciary Committee. The representative may force a vote on impeachment by submitting for consideration as a privileged resolution under Rule IX, up to and including after the resolution has been submitted to committee.

IF AN IMPEACHMENT RESOLUTION HAS NOT BEEN SUBMITTED UNDER RULE IX, A VOTE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN ON THE IMPACHMENT RESOLUTION.

There are EIGHT active impeachment resolutions for U.S. officials currently serving in office:

Three additional resolutions have been filed against former AG Pam Bondi and former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. Two impeachment resolutions for Donald Trump have been tabled.

All active impeachment resolutions have been referred to the Judiciary Committee, where they will gather dust until and unless members of Congress exercise their constitutional right to submit them under Rule IX. Thus far, Congress has been reluctant to force a vote: The impeachment resolution with the most support, H.Res 996 impeaching Kristi Noem, with 187 co-sponsors was never brought to the floor of the House.

This is an abject failure of leadership on the part of Congress. There are 435 representatives. Only 11 representatives have filed impeachment resolutions. Only one, Rep. Al Green, TX-09, has forced a vote on impeachment.

We need 51% of Congress to impeach in the House, and 2/3 in the Senate – it is a national project and we need everyone. Sign up here to join the party.

  • Have articles of impeachment been filed? FILED JANUARY 14, 2026

Click here for initial statements of support from representatives for the impeachment of Kristi Noem. Not one of these representatives brought these articles of impeachment to a vote. The complete list of 187 co-sponsors can be found at congress.gov, and the complete list of initial co-sponsors of the bill can be found HERE.

The following statements were collected from the first 18 representatives to make statements of support. Please note that one of the representatives that spoke up earliest did NOT cosponsor the articles – Ramirez (IL-03).

  • Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-02) – Bluesky, Jan 8 – “I refuse to stay silent while Secretary Noem breaks the rule of law and terrorizes our communities. I am introducing Articles of Impeachment against her for violating the public trust, obstructing Congress, and self-dealing.”
  • Rep. Maxine Dexter (OR-03) – Bluesky, Jan 8 – “I’m joining Rep. @robinkelly.house.gov to introduce articles of impeachment against Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and will use every lever available to end the terror ICE has unleashed on our communities.”
  • Rep. Chellie Pingree – (ME-01) – Bluesky, Jan 8 – “Renee Good was murdered by ICE. The Administration is lying about it. ICE is terrorizing Minneapolis. Just like they’ve terrorized L.A., Chicago, and hundreds of other communities—including in Maine. It’s time to impeach Kristi Noem and hold this lawless, violent agency accountable.”
  • Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) – Bluesky, Jan 8 – “This cannot stand. Which is why we will be joining Rep. Robin Kelly to file articles of impeachment against Secretary Noem in the coming days.”
  • Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove – (CA-37) – Bluesky, Jan 8 – “Impeach Kristi Noem.”
  • Rep. Kevin Mullin (CA-15) – Bluesky, Jan 8 – “ICE’s killing of Renee Good, a mother of three, was caused by the Trump Administration’s intentionally inhumane & chaotic deployments. Kristi Noem is dangerously unfit for the dire responsibility of DHS Secretary & should be impeached immediately.”
  • Rep. Emily Randall (WA-06) – Bluesky, Jan 8 – “Enough is enough. I’m cosponsoring @robinkelly.house.gov Articles of Impeachment to remove Secretary Noem from office.”
  • Rep. Sarah McBride (DE-AL) – Bluesky, Jan 8 – “A woman trying to drive away is dead. There is no excuse for her murder. We’ve seen the videos with our own eyes. The agent must be held accountable. Noem must resign, but she has no shame and won’t. I support impeachment of this administration’s most lawless and abusive official.
  • Rep. Juan Vargas (CA-50) – Bluesky, Jan 8 – “Full support. Impeach Kristi Noem.”
  • Rep. Lori Trahan (MA-03) – X, Jan 9 – “DHS Secretary Kristi Noem should be removed from office. Her incompetence makes our communities less safe.” (Staff confirmed via email on 11 Jan that Rep. Trahan “supports the removal of Kristi Noem from office” and is “awaiting the text of Representative Kelly’s articles of impeachment so that we can fully review and evaluate the legislative language.”)
  • Rep. Mike Quigley (IL-05) – Bluesky, Jan 9. “Congress must unite and end Noem’s reign of terror.  I’m planning to support @robinkelly.house.gov articles of impeachment for these reasons:

Her cruelty knows no bounds. Again and again, Noem claims operations like Midway Blitz target “the worst of the worst” — but that isn’t the case. Preschool teachers, soccer moms, and even U.S. citizens, like Renee Nicole Good from Minnesota, have been abused, abducted, and murdered. No one is safe.

She lies. In October, Border Patrol shot a woman in Chicago, after ramming her car with their vehicles. Noem and DHS then lied, saying the woman caused the collision (a claim the body cam footage contradicted!). The administration has since dropped all charges against the woman.

She’s out of her depth. Noem has zero interest nor understanding of our complex immigration system. Just this week, she claimed Venezuelans could apply for refugee status. Her DHS colleagues then walked it back because it isn’t true. Noem has no experience with this issue/immigrant communities.
  • Rep. Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) – Bluesky, Jan 9 – “Kristi Noem’s incompetent leadership – from FEMA to ICE – has terrorized our communities and put us all in danger. The tragic murder of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis underscores this. I support @robinkelly.house.gov‘s effort to impeach Secretary Noem — she must resign or be removed from office.”
  • Rep. Delia Ramirez – DID NOT CO-SPONSOR (IL-03) – Bluesky, Jan 9 – “In April, I hand-delivered a letter of resignation to Kristi Noem. In December, I took the first step towards Noem’s impeachment. I will continue organizing like heaven and hell to ensure Kristi Noem is impeached and held accountable.” Ramirez had previously called for an impeachment investigation into Noem, saying “You either resign, Trump fires you, or you will be impeached.
  • Rep. Doris Matsui (CA-07) – Bluesky, Jan 10 – “I will support the impeachment of Kristi Noem. She has been a complete and destructive failure as DHS Secretary. Our nation demands that our justice system is carried out transparently and in accordance with the constitution”
  • Rep. Angie Craig (MN-02) – Bluesky, Jan 10 – “ICE Barbie isn’t doing her job. It’s time for Kristi Noem to go. I’m working with my colleagues to impeach her”
  • Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) – Bluesky, Jan 11 – “I stand with people speaking out and protesting nonviolently, and I join my colleagues in calling for the impeachment of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.”
  • Rep. Veronica Escobar (TX-16) – Bluesky, Jan 13 – “I support the impeachment of Kristi Noem. The entirety of Kristi Noem’s tenure at DHS has marred by the trampling of the department’s stated values of “integrity, vigilance, and respect.” CI recommends reading the entire thread. It closes with: “Secretary Noem has weaponized a powerful federal law enforcement agency to create an environment of fear and intimidation across communities in America. She has been untruthful, created a poisonous culture inside DHS, and made America less safe. Americans should not have to live in fear of their own government.
  • Rep. Seth Moulton (MA-06) – Bluesky, Jan 13 – “Congressman Moulton is joining as a cosponsor of Congresswoman Kelly’s articles of impeachment against Secretary Kristi Noem. Accountability can’t wait.”
  • Rep. Valerie Foushee (NC-04) – Bluesky, Jan 13 – “I have cosponsored @robinkelly.house.gov‘s Articles of Impeachment against DHS Secretary Noem. This is the minimum Congress should be doing to protect our communities—we cannot allow ICE’s reign of terror to continue.”
  • Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05) – Bluesky, Jan 13 – “Kristi Noem must be impeached.”
  • Rep. Laura Friedman (CA-30) – Bluesky, Jan 13 – “I just joined Rep. Robin Kelly‘s articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem.”
  • Rep. Dave Min (CA-47) – Bluesky, Jan 13 – “Impeachment is the last resort, but when a Cabinet secretary stonewalls Congress and lawlessness runs rampant, there is no other option than to consider it.”
  • Rep. Wesley Bell (MO-1) – Bluesky, Jan 12 – “I joined Rep. Kelly in signing articles of impeachment to remove Secretary Noem, and we must defund ICE and hold everyone who has broken the law fully accountable.”
  • Rep. Diana DeGette (CO-01) – Bluesky, Jan 13 – “She has obstructed Congressional oversight, directly violated a court order, violated public trust, and engaged in corruption to enrich herself and close associates. She must be held accountable.”
  • Rep. Paul Tonko (NY-20) – Bluesky, Jan 13 – “Kristi Noem needs to go and ICE’s brutal activity against our communities needs to end.”
  • Representatives who do not support the impeachment of Kristi Noem
