Easy ways to advocate for impeachment

It takes just five minutes to contact your representative and advocate for impeachment. Follow our guide:

Action 1: sign up

  1. Sign up here to stay informed (you’ll be redirected back to this page afterward).
  2. Our Citizens’ Impeachment team emails user-friendly steps to make it easy to participate in Days of Action.

ABOVE ALL: Follow up with the rest of the actions below!

Action 2: email your representative

  1. Check our tracker to confirm if your representative has taken a position on impeachment.
  2. Go to the website of your representative. Click to the page to send an email.
  3. Write your email, with help from our templates! You can be very brief, but ideally you will include some of your own words. To get ideas and get started, jump to the template that matches your rep’s position.

ABOVE ALL: Mention their position and say what you want their position to be.

Action 3: call your representative

  1. Next, go to the website of your representative. Find the phone number to call — either the D.C. office or the local office is fine.
  2. Plan your call based on your representative’s position on our tracker, and make the call! The phone call or voicemail can also be very short, since offices tend to simply tally if constituents support an issue or not. Sample scripts are available at the bottom of the page. Again, using your own words is best.

ABOVE ALL: Mention their position and say what you want their position to be. Please be polite.

Action 4: tag your representative

  1. Search for your rep’s social media accounts: look on their website for links and handles. If you search on platforms directly, you might find both an official account and a campaign account. You want the official account, which should be linked to their office and to government websites (.gov).
  2. Target platforms where your representative seems the most active. If you’re not sure, a comment on any platform is better than none. Find a post by your representative that’s related to Donald Trump, unconstitutional actions, and/or impeachment.
  3. Reply to the post: state your representative’s position and that you want them to publicly support impeachment. Be sure to tag them or reply directly in their comment section.

ABOVE ALL:
Tag your rep in your post, or write directly in their comment section; your rep is unlikely to see your comment if their account is not directly tagged.

Can this really succeed?

Are you wondering how grassroots efforts can possibly sway political outcomes? Special interests groups succeed because they employ professional lobbyists, and yes, we are only part-time volunteers with the credentials of “concerned citizens”. However, a grassroots movement has distinct advantages over elite interests. Our chief strength is the massive number of voters ready to help, and the massive amount of elective power we wield. It takes a very short amount of time for a person to contact their representative and communicate how strongly they believe in impeachment. Yet if large numbers of citizens each do it, the collective impact we can make is enormous. We are the people.
