Citizens’ Impeachment upholds the Constitution of the United States by uniting everyday Americans around a single mission: to impeach, convict, and remove officials who violate their oath of office — including Donald Trump and his enablers, who in 2025 alone amassed hundreds of documented violations of constitutional and international statutes.
Sustained pressure works. In the most recent vote (December 11, 2025), 140 representatives voted to take up the question of impeachment and 47 voted”Present”. This is up from 79 votes to take up the question of impeachment on June 24, 2025.
The U.S. Constitution provides one remedy for unlawful conduct in office: impeachment. Every citizen has the right — and duty — to demand that Congress honor its oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. This impeachment timeline is updated every time a new article is introduced or a new vote is taken:
Impeachment Timeline
- April 7, 2025 – Citizens’ Impeachment drafted their first Article of Impeachment and mobilized 600 citizens to ask their reps if they support impeaching Trump for Tyranny. 15 representatives say yes.
- April 28, 2025 – Representative Thanedar (MI-13) introduced the first impeachment articles of Trump’s second term. You can read the impeachment articles here. Representative Al Green (TX-09) later signed on as co-sponsor.
- May 1, 2025 – Citizens’ Impeachment members asked their representatives to support the impeachment articles H. Res. 353. Together with our partner Free Speech For People, citizens sent more than 5000 emails to Congress in this action.
- May 13, 2025 – Representative Thanedar read the impeachment articles H. Res. 353 on the House floor, and invoked Rule IX, forcing a vote within two congressional days.
- May 14, 2025 – Democratic leadership pressured Rep. Thanedar into withdrawing his resolution. This resolution contains 7 articles of impeachment including Citizens’ Impeachment’s own article on Tyranny, and can be submitted under Rule IX at any time.
- May 15, 2025 – Representative Al Green (TX-09) filed his own article of impeachment, H. Res. 415.
- June 24, 2025 – Representative Al Green (TX-09) filed another article of impeachment condemning Trump’s usurpation of the War Powers Act in striking Iran. Green use Rule IX to force a vote on H.Res 537, and House leadership scheduled the vote in for the same afternoon. 79 representatives voted not to table the impeachment resolution, and Rep Carson (IN-09) joined the pro-impeachment Courage Caucus a day later.
- October 7, 2025 – Citizens Impeachment drafted a second Article of Impeachment, this time for Treason. The Article cites the levying of war against the United States by both President Trump and Secretary of Defense Hegseth. This article was also endorsed by Free Speech for People, and 5000 people emailed their representatives to ask them to endorse impeachment.
- December 9, 2025 – Representative Shri Thanedar (MI-13) introduces H. Res 935, “Impeaching Peter B. Hegseth, Secretary of Defense of the United States, for high crimes and misdemeanors.” This article was not submitted via Rule IX, which means that the House did not have to vote on the matter within 48 hours.
- December 10, 2025 – Representative Al Green (TX-09) introduced H. Res 939, Impeaching Donald J. Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors, namely threatening violence against sitting members of Congress. He introduced the article under Rule IX, forcing a vote on the matter within 48 hours. Representative Stevens (MI-11) also filed articles of impeachment (H. Res 944). Her resolution impeaches RFK for endangering public health. H. Res 944 is cosponsored by Rep. Swalwell (CA-14).
- December 11, 2025 – Leadership moves to table the question of impeachment brought by Rep. Green (Tx-09) and the House votes on impeachment for the second time. 140 representatives voted not to table the impeachment resolution, 47 representatives voted “Present” in accordance with Democratic leadership, and 237 voted to table the impeachment resolution. - December 15, 2025 – Citizens’ Impeachment releases a new article of impeachment for Donald J. Trump’s obstruction of justice in his failed attempt to stifle the release of the Epstein files.
